Defeated Fiji minister defends his circumcision
Writing from Singapore hospital denies undisclosed wealth
Fiji’s now defeated minister of most things, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, has engaged in a 4500 word hospital bed exegesis on media corruption allegations and his circumcision.
The 58-year-old has had his bail terms in Fiji modified so that he could travel to Singapore to consult heart specialists there.
His Facebook posting today is dominated by his criticism of the Fiji Times which on September 23 ran a front page story headed ‘Undisclosed Wealth’. It claimed Sayed-Khaiyum had not fully disclosed, for electoral purposes, his own and family shareholdings.
“Given the malicious nature of these articles, I have to put up this post, albeit reluctantly, since I am in the middle of my medical review,” he said today.
