The first Marshall Islands NOTAM announced a restriction on airspace over Kwajalein until January 31: ‘For your safety overflight of the island north of the rwy (runway) is prohibited. This is considered a hazardous area with the potential for loss of life. All arrivals and departures make south traffic only to avoid extreme radiation hazards.’

Developing story A United States military base in the middle of the Pacific has issued a warning to aircraft not to fly over one of the world’s largest lagoons due to an extreme radiation hazard which has potential for loss of life.
